The video highlights the new characters, and also reveals that Hikaru UtadaThe theme song “Pink Blood” from the first series will again be the theme song for the second series.

The anime will premiere on NHK Educational October 23. Crunchyroll will broadcast the second series worldwide except in Asia.

Kiyoko Sayama (vampire knight, Pretear, Amanchu! Advance) is the anime’s new director, replacing Masahiko Murata. Conduct (CAST: Song Connection, Vladlove) is the new animation studio, replacing Brain database. The rest of the key personnel are returning, including Shinzo Fujita as the screenwriter of the series, Koji Yabuno as a character designer, Ryo Kawasaki as a music composer, and Takeshi Takadera as sound director.

The first series of the anime premiered on NHK Educational in April 2021. The anime was originally scheduled to premiere in October 2020, but it was postponed to April 2021 due to the anime’s production schedule being heavily affected by COVID-19. Crunchyroll streamed the anime.

Ōima launched the manga in November 2016 in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The manga’s first arc ended in December 2019, and the second arc launched in January 2020. The manga won the Best Shōnen Manga award in the 43rd edition. Kodansha Manga Awards in May 2019. The manga also made it to the American Library Association (ALA) Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) 2019 list of Great Graphic Novels for Teenagers.
