Anime Series “High Card” Opening Theme And Characters Revealed


High cardan upcoming original anime series from TMS Entertainment Co., Ltd., is slated for release in January 2023 and now has its own opening theme song.

The series’ opening theme, titled “Trickster”, is performed by Five New Old – an international rock band known for their theatrical performances and the vocal styles of their bilingual lead singer, Hiroshi. You can listen to it now in a recently shared promotional video for High card:

The story of High card follows Finn Oldman (Gen Sato), an orphan who seeks to win a fortune in a casino and finds himself in a waking nightmare, caught up in a car chase and a hail of bloody bullets caused by a man’s “lucky” card . Finn soon learns why the shootout took place: the entire world order is controllable by a set of 52 X-Playing cards, which contain the power to bestow superhuman abilities on those who hold them. This discovery leads Finn to join a secret group of players called High Card, who work together to collect the cards that have been scattered throughout the kingdom of Fourland.

A new poster for High card – emphasizing the two-faced nature of the members of High Card – was illustrated by character designer and chief animation supervisor Nozomi Kawano. The promo video also gives fans a taste of his art style and shows Finn and his fellow High Card members at the center of some high-octane action.

Bernard Symons

RESUME: Kazuhiro Yamaji

High Card manager and administrative staff at the Old Maid branch in Pinochle. He does everything from making tea and cleaning to car maintenance and relaying information to and from head office. He is also Leo’s guardian.

Theodore Constantin Pinochle

RESUME: Daisuke Ono

The boss of High Card and CEO of Pinochle, a company built on tradition and formality. His administrative skills are highly recognized by political and business establishments. Being a cold-headed and not very talkative man, even his son Leo knows little about his past.

High cardThe creative team of includes director Junichi Wada and screenwriters Kenichi Yamashita, Kazuhiko Inukai and Shingo Nagai. Haruna Nagata (Givenlisten)) served as the series’ chief animation supervisor, with Nozomi Kawano providing character design.
