It’s been a while since we heard anything about Cyberpunk 2077 anime spin-off, but the last edge runners the trailer really looks quite promising.
First of all, the studio and the team behind this anime aren’t exactly trivial people. studio trigger already has a solid anime pedigree and with Hiroyuki Imaishi directing and Yoh Yoshinari handle character design as well as animation direction, edge runners at least will look amazing.
The real question here is whether the story and script will be any good, and this is where we enter more uncertain territory.
Given the massive debacle that was the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 and the example of why you shouldn’t release an unfinished game, it’s worth pointing out that CD Projekt Red handles the story and the script.
Whereas Cyberpunk 2077 is a far less buggy mess now than when it launched, my confidence with CD Projekt Red’s creative output at this point is pretty low.
Yes, the same studio managed the witcher games brilliantly, including their intricate narrative of the novels, but that expertise was seemingly thrown out the window with Cyberpunk 2077.
In short, I’m totally waiting Cyberpunk: Edge Runners look amazing and be very gory with thatI just don’t want the story to be something that engaging.
Cyberpunk: Edge Runners will be released in September on Netflix.
